NEWS– Kanungu District LC 5 Chairman Eng Sam Arinaitwe Kajojo has commended the Diocese of Kinkizi leadership’s effort to improve people’s lives by utilizing the locally available resources.
Eng Kajojo made the remarks on November 28th 2021 while speaking as the Chief Guest at the official opening of the Diocese of Kinkizi 2nd Diocesan Church Leadership Management Training Course for all Clergy that is going on at St Peter’s Cathedral Nyakatare.
The District Chairman asked the church leaders to use their positions in identifying key components of development by setting up benchmarks with realistic goals that can transform communities.
Eng Kajojo lamented that COVID-19 remains a big challenge but asked the church leaders to help fight moral degeneration which has led to over 800 unplanned child pregnancies in Kanungu District since March last year when the government declared the first lockdown.
The chairman thanked the church for partnering with the government to work on developmental projects and assured that such arrangements that benefit the communities will be supported.
Earlier the Bishop of the Diocese of Kinkizi Rt Hon Dan Zoreka, said that the training is aimed at making the church leaders become responsible for their calling in order to serve the people better regardless of their religious affiliations.
Bishop Zoreka observed that leaders who understand their work and responsibilities find it easy to serve the people in their communities thus calling on the church leaders to motivate the people by utilizing their human resources, finances and land for development.
The Diocesan Secretary for the Diocese of Kinkizi Rev Can Kenneth Kanyankore said that the Church Leadership and Management training was being attended by over 100 clergy and will focus on strategic planning, sustainability of church projects, performance of human resources, management performance and cultural changes.
Rev Can Kanyakore disclosed that the Diocese had invited CORAT Africa a reputable leadership training consultants from Nairobi in Kenya represented by Fredrick Olweny to conduct the specialised training that will last for a whole week.
CORAT Africa is a reputable company that has trained and shaped leaders across the world and the Diocese of Kinkizi decided to bring the trainers from Nairobi deeming it cost effective than ferrying the participants to Kenya.
The Chairman of the Training Organising committee Rev Moses Kabareebe said that arrangements have been put in place to ensure that the participants are comfortable to grasp the knowledge that will be imparted onto them, including physical fitness exercises.
