Diocesan council: 27th April 2021 at St.Peters Cathedral Nyakatare
Christians have been strongly warned against divorce and remarrying that has become a habit among many Christians. The warning was sounded by the Bishop of the Diocese of Kinkiizi who is the Rt Rev Dan Zoreka during the Diocesan council which took place on the 27th April 2021 at St.Peters Cathedral Nyakatare starting at 11am. This was attended by various representatives from all the 11 archdeaconries of the diocese of Kinkiizi, the diocesan secretariat and all stake holders.
This council sits before the sitting of the Diocesan Synod meeting which for will take place on the 28th May 2021.In this Diocesan council, a report of all activities done in the diocese was given by the Diocesan Secretary, Rev Canon Kenneth Kanyankole in a bid to promote transparency, which report was punctuated by a lot of achievements despite the interruptions that were brought about by the COVID 19 pandemic.
In the same council, Rev Lawrence Birohozo who serves as the Parish Priest of Burora Church of Uganda was appreciated for finishing to pay the Diocesan Quota which showed him as a good example of a hard working servant of God, hence encouraging all the other church ministers and Christians to work hard towards finishing their Quota balances.
The outgoing LC5 Chairperson Canon Josephine Kasya was present in this Diocesan council who pledged to keep supporting and advising the church even when she has retired from active politics, a promise that was welcomed by all the members present.
Bishop Dan concluded by saying that the people of Kanungu should make full use of the recently elected political leaders in Kanungu such as Hon James Kaberuka, Hon Kinshaba Patience Nkunda, Eng Sam Kajojo and others at all levels.
