Boys Brigade and Girls Brigade to be revived: Diocese of Kinkiizi

The Bishop’s Brass Band youth members were challenged to live exemplary lives as the Boys and Girls brigade expects them to live. These words were said by the Diocesan Youth and Children’s coordinator, Rev Bob Mbabazi Ntegyereize, during the two days retreat of the Diocese of Kinkiizi Girls and Boys Brigade retreat at St. Peter’s Cathedral Nyakatare Boardroom.

The members of the Bishop’s Brass band which is one of the components of the Boys Brigade in the Diocese gathered together intending to revive their BB/GB Company as well as find the way forward for their forthcoming activities this year.  

The chief facilitator in this retreat was Rev. Caleb Turyabagyenyi Bitindi who has reached the rank of Captain in the Boys Brigade, he called upon the youth to take the example of Jesus Christ of living a life of humility since he is the one they are serving in this ministry of Boys and Girls Brigade.

Going by their Mottos, “Sure and Steadfast” for the Boys Brigade and “Seek to Serve and Follow Christ” for the Girls Brigade, the Diocesan Missioner, Rev. Godfrey Byamukama encouraged the participants to honestly follow these mottos to guide their lives.    

The Boys’ Brigade is the largest Christian uniformed youth organization in the Anglican – United Kingdom and was founded in Glasgow, Scotland on 4 October 1883 by Sir William Alexander Smith, and celebrated its 140th anniversary in this year 2023.

Captain Mujuni Francis is the Bishop’s Brass Band Trainer in the entire Diocese of Kinkiizi who has served for more than 25 years, faithfully in this position. 

Meanwhile, the new archdeacon for Rugyeyo will be installed on 5th Feb 2023 at St. John’s C.OU Kashayo in a function led by the Bishop. Dan Zoreka accompanied by all the remaining 10 archdeacons in the Diocese of Kinkiizi. Rev. Eunice and Edward Maririre will be installed as the 7th Archdeacon of the Rugyeyo.
